1 DAY – wenchi Lake Hiking

DAY 1– Wenchi Crater Lake – Welliso (185km) 

Morning:
We start our journey early in the morning from Addis Ababa west to Welliso, from where we reach Wenchi crater lake located towards the North in less than 2 hours. In Wenchi we will take a pleasant walk (optionally also on horseback) through stunning nature. From the rim of the crater we descent into a beautiful valley abundant with rivers.

Afternoon:
We may also cross the lake in a traditional boat. In the late afternoon, we return to Addis Ababa.

Wenchi crater lake, also spelled as Wancii or Wenchi, is a volcano located 98 km (61 mi) west of Addis Ababa, in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. At 3,450 m (11,320 ft) above sea level, it is the highest volcano in Ethiopia, 13.5 km (8.4 mi) from Mount Dendi, Ethiopia’s second highest volcano. Wenchi is located at equal distance between the towns of Ambo and Woliso.
